A to Z Challenge 2026 - L - Contessina’s Collection of Human Treaaures
Shelby was staring at Contessina. Neither was talking. Shelby kept trying to start up a conversation, but Contessina ignored her.
They were at the library.
The library aboard the Whitfield was filled with books from throughout the world, and galaxy. Roxmere Whitfield had boasted that it was the greatest collection of books since the Library of Alexandria, and the most secure. After the Calamity, no one was going to attack Earth again. The Galactic Alliance had assured that.
Contessina had explained library protocol to Shelby several times already. Clearly Shelby had a difficult time grasping it. Contessina wanted to ask about that, after a certain point. She assumed Danab had private collections, but no public ones. She didn’t know how she felt about that.
She sat reading a newspaper, while Shelby waited in silence, doing nothing, thinking nothing, staring at her, at the other patrons, making everyone uncomfortable…
Tony is this from a book of yours? Or is it a book in the making? I like the idea of a library that vast floating through space.
