A to Z Challenge 2026 - F - Contessina’s Collection of Human Treasures

“Faith, among these humans. Well, that’s a topic.

“A lot of worlds, once they encounter other worlds, it ends their concepts of faith. Not Earth. Not humans. It’s actually the thing about the Danab that convinced many of them that sometime, later, they might be able to reconcile. Somehow they learned that despite a thousand years’ gap they still shared the same faith. Learning that the Danab had the faith, had sustained it on another world…I think it changed a lot of things.

“The Danab are hardly the only peoples created by the Tikanni, scooped off one world, deposited on another, and left to create something for themselves. The Vendarans are a much earlier example, or so the stories go. That shared lineage drove the Vendarans truly mad. All their previous plans, their notions of their place in the galaxy, became moot. They became obsessed with proving they were better than everyone else. They also immediately began plotting to win the Danab to their side. They have very little concept of faith.

“That’s what’s going to make the difference, I think. I think the Danab value their faith as much as humans do. On Earth faith sometimes turned into bloody wars, or so my reading of its history suggests. Ironically it may end up doing the opposite.

“Well. What do I know? It’s just…interesting to me. All of it.”

  1. Faith is a powerful connector, but it's a vast word with varying meanings to individuals. Sounds like the Danab and the Humans feel their definitions are close enough. Lisa at
